Current Projects

In addition to editing projects and books I’m helping others to publish, Remapping Myself is the product line I’ve been writing and producing since October 2025. It began as a simple way to make sense of my own neural pathways—how they’re formed, how they respond to life, and how they can be intentionally shifted with repetition, reflection, and care. Over time, it’s grown into a full body of work that helps people map where they currently stand, understand what shaped their patterns, and learn how to practice something new.

It now exists as twice‑weekly articles published on Substack and on the Remapping Myself website. The website houses the essays themselves as well as supporting tools like worksheets, reflection prompts, and explanatory materials. These pieces build on each other: the articles introduce concepts, the worksheets help readers try them on, and the reflection tools help them return to the work again and again.

Several future pieces are in development, including online courses, guided programs, and books—each created to help people remap their neural pathways in ways that feel accessible, hopeful, and grounded. The goal is not to “fix” anyone, but to offer gentle, consistent practice in noticing what’s automatic, understanding why, and choosing what’s possible next.

This work is deeply meaningful to me. It’s optimistic and helpful without being naïve; it’s practical without being prescriptive. And it’s becoming the foundation of a larger ecosystem of resources that I feel genuinely proud of—because it’s already helping people understand themselves with more clarity, compassion, and agency. More than anything, Remapping Myself makes me feel hopeful for what’s still unfolding.

Past Projects

Books, Workbooks, App Content, Podcast

My role as editorial director of the consumer (trade) segment of books at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (Hazelden Publishing) for six years, was three-fold. As acquisitions editor, my job was to find the audiences, the voices, and the needs, and the solutions—then bring forth new work for our team to develop. As editorial director, I coached the team to make what we acquired into the very best version of itself. And as a developmental editor, I was the person who touched every letter and helped the author craft a reader journey that is transformative.

I also crafted existing content into consumer-facing products for clients like TELUS as well as for family members of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation patients. I loved that work.

Here are other examples of what we created while I was at Hazelden Publishing. Please, if one catches your eye, find it at Hazelden’s online store, wherever you buy your books, or at the library. Tell others. Support these authors. They continue to do wonderful work.

Magazines, Website, Podcast

For seven years, I led the full editorial operation of Lavender Magazine, a bi‑weekly, 44-247‑page glossy publication with a circulation of over 30,000. During my tenure, we produced 180 issues and shaped each one from planning through final print. I directed editorial strategy, collaborating on art direction and production, and managing a fast and complex publishing rhythm.

I wrote more than 300 articles during this time and personally earned nine awards for writing and nine for editorial/production excellence. Under my leadership, Lavender was named 2016 Magazine of the Year by the Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association (MMPA), adding to a long list of MMPA awards recognizing our work across categories including Editor’s Letters, Single‑Topic Issues, How‑To Articles, Profiles, Website Excellence, and Overall Excellence.

My role also included directing some photo and video shoots, top‑editing all copy, managing fluctuating editorial budgets, and coordinating across departments to meet daily, weekly, and bi‑weekly deadlines. I oversaw a full UX/UI redesign of LavenderMagazine.com, which grew to 44,000 bi‑weekly visitors and received the MMPA Silver Award for Website Excellence. And I voiced and produced the company podcast for a few years.

This period honed the blend of editorial vision, production management, and storytelling strategy that now shapes my work at Marsh Press.
